Windows 8 Downfall – The Top Reasons Behind

Windows 8, undoubtedly has been the most awaited OS launched by the Microsoft Corporation.

Desktop users were impatiently waiting for the Windows 8 release as it supported an entirely new look with a different interface.

After the release, Windows 8 apparently broken down all the previous records of sales as it was anticipated.

However, users have now realized that the Windows 8 operating system is specifically designed for the touch interface, and it is utilized on devices that do not support the touch interface is useless.

Because of this concern, the sale of the Windows 8 OS has considerably decreased.
According to a survey report initiated in February 2013, the desktop users prefer several other versions of the Windows operating system compared to the Windows 8, which made the utilization of the Windows 8 OS drop down to just 2.67% in comparison to other Operating systems.

There are several different factors that contributed to the downfall of Windows 8.

The very first mistake that Microsoft came up with was entirely changing the outlook of Window  8 to the metro styled interface.

It does not have a start menu, which is a great drawback.

Moreover, there are various other slip-ups that Microsoft overlooked and made Windows 8 a flop.

–         Metro Styled Interface

The Windows 8 OS has been declared as a flop by several sites and this is primarily because it has this metro style interface.

Users have not been well prepared for this kind of a change.

Microsoft, on the other hand, opted for this interface to offer its users with just one OS for personal computers, Smartphones and tablets.

However, this change was not well accepted by the desktop users.

–         Unavailability of Windows Media Center

Another big aspect behind Windows 8 downfall is the exclusion of the Windows Media Center by Microsoft.

The Windows media center has been marked as the most entertaining and interesting apps and it was included in all the prior versions of Windows.

It is useful in playing music, recording videos and even watching TV on your desktop. It also provides the feature of connecting your system with your TV.

–         Compatibility Problems

When you want to install the Windows 8 OS, you are provided with 2 options.

Firstly, you do a fresh installation on your system.

The second one is that, you can upgrade your prior Windows version, but that is limited to just Windows 7 as your OS.

If you upgrade, you will notice that some of the Windows 7 apps might not work properly with Windows 8.

If you are using Windows XP or Vista, then it is good to upgrade to Windows 8.

Therefore, Windows 8 also has several compatibility issues with its predecessors, which is not anticipated at all.

Last but not the least, there are several other drawbacks as well, but the significance of the OS cannot be overlooked.

Windows 8 serves as a single OS for three different platforms simultaneously, which happens to be a great feature.

Lets see how it turns out to be and what Microsoft plans to overcome the drawbacks!
