We have been using services like Google Docs, Slideshare and Scribd till now to share our documents online. Now, you have a new option of sharing your public documents. Microsoft has come up with its new online document sharing platform called docs.com (The name couldn’t be any better). It lets you share your MS Office documents as well as create new documents online.
The site says it is still in beta but will allow you to create and share documents. Microsoft’s Docs.com has also integrated Facebook and you can share you documents with your Facebook friends using this platform.
Now you can socialize with your Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. Your Facebook friends can view and comment on your shared documents even if they do not have Office installed on to their desktops.
This does not mean that all the documents you upload are shared with everyone. You have all the privacy options you would probably need to keep you documents private and secure. You can either choose not to share your documents, share it with a specific number of friends or make them open for anyone to view. If you wish you can work in a collaborative environment where your Facebook friends can contribute to the same document you are working on.
The site is live now and you can use it and login using your Facebook ID. Some features like commenting and uploading are currently disabled. For the latest updates you can check out the official Docs Blog.
